The Nine Great Walks span 550km of spectacular New Zealand terrain from the alpine peaks of the Tongariro Northern Circuit to the rainforests of the Heaphy Track, golden beaches, a stunning river journey and the glacial valleys of one of the finest walks in the world, the Milford Track right here in my own backyard.
When I saw this amazing competition from Air New Zealand and Dept of Conservation I just knew I had to enter.
Whether it’s plunging head first into steamy jungles, exploring endless wilderness, isolated ruins, climbing mountains, walking the Inca Trail, climbing Half Dome you will find me ‘walking’ somewhere in my spare time. Just being with my boots, backpack and nature gets my pulse going.
I’m the chief wanderer, walker, hiker, tramper, biker, camper, blogger here at WorldWideAdventurers and as you can see I just love to explore nature and the outdoors.
A born and bred healthy kiwi gal with a big dose of determination and perseverance, I was bitten by the tramping (that’s what we call it in N Z ) and travelling bug early in life. I’m an experienced tramper and I fit in with people from all ‘walks’ of life and I love sharing kiwi hospitality and kai with visitors.
Winning a place on this trip would mark the start of our planned “World Wide Wander” and I can think of nothing more appropriate than walking this amazing 550ks of N Z as the first steps in this journey.
The World Wide Wander is a lifelong dream to travel the whole world slowly and without end…. It’d be an awesome set of kiwiana stories to share on this blog.
Let’s see if this young at heart, slightly crazy Kiwi has what it takes!
Good Luck to all
